On January 8, 2014, Governor Patrick, Secretary Polanowicz and key industry leaders launched new services from the Mass HIway, Query & Retrieve. The event, Commonwealth Interconnected, was held at the Carl J. Shapiro Simulation and Skills Center at Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center and included a live demonstration of the services in action. An emergency department physician at Beth Israel Deaconess was able to determine that the patient also had medical records held at Tufts Medical Center, Holyoke Medical Center and Atrius Health and was quickly able to request and receive information to speed diagnosis and treatment for an elderly patient.
